About The Speaker

Christopher Tan has rich and blended expertise in fire regulatory regime. He heads the Fire Safety Consultancy at Surbana Jurong (SJ) since Jan 2020 with fire safety advisory experience in the urban built environment and mega infrastructures, both locally and overseas.


Prior to that, he spent 35 years with SCDF where he held key leadership appointments as Director FSSD, Directory Civil Defence Academy and Commander, 4th CD Division. He was Chairman of Fire Code 2018 Committee, Code of Practice for Rail Transit System (2017) and Fire Safety Engineers Qualifying Panel. He is the Hon Fire Safety Advisor of REDAS, Immediate Past President of IFE and serves in National Fire and Emergency Preparedness Council, Singapore Certification Body Advisory Committee (UL) and Singapore Environment Council Green Label Committee. 


He holds B.Sc (Building) and a Master of Fire Safety Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK).
